After downloading the calculator, install it by executing the downloaded file. The InstallShield dialog boxes will guide you through the installation process. When it is finished, you will have a folder named Calculator with 32 files: anypia32.exe, anypia32.chm, 29 sample files, and a readme file (readme.txt). The default location for the folder is in a folder named SSA, inside your Program Files folder. There will also be an entry in your Start Menu and an alias on your desktop for the benefit calculator. To start the calculator, choose it from the Start Menu, or click the alias on the desktop.
If you download a WinZip file, your Internet browser might give you a choice to either open the file or save it to disk. If you choose to open the file, you should be aware that the browser will probably delete it when the browser is closed. To avoid this problem, use the browser's "save" option, and specify an easy-to-remember folder such as a "Zip files" folder you create in Documents, the Downloads folder, or the Desktop.
Note: Many files available for download on the Internet are executable (.exe) files. If the .exe file is a self-extracting Zip file, you can open and process it using WinZip . The easiest way is to right click the self-extractor and choose Open with WinZip from the WinZip context menu.
"Download a single setup file": it means that you download an install .exe file; you have simply to execute it to install VA. The setup file will create for you directory and link. Remember that in any case VA is a program "standalone", fully contained in a single executable file without DLL (see next point).
"Download only the VA.exe file": the file you download in this case is the executable of VA, NOT the install program. VA is "self contained" in a single executable file; so you can use it "as is" or simply copy it in your preferred directory (for example copying it over the old version) just to upgrade quickly the program (leaving even the VA.ini file untouched). The difference with the setup file is only that the setup will create directories and will deploy support file (help, calibration, etc.) and shortcut on desktop and system menu (if desired).
Once the download is complete, open and run the installer. The file is called GrabCAD-Print-Installer-PerMachine.exe and it will be in your default downloads folder. It should take about 5 minutes to complete installation.
Be sure to use the same email that you want to use to record your progress in the AstroVenture database when you play the University of Mars game. Choose a password that you will remember in order to be able to download the game after filling out the form.
